📝Episode Summary

In this episode, I’m joined by Elizabeth Willetts, founder of Investing in Women, a flexible job platform created to support parents in finding fulfilling work that fits around family life.

Elizabeth opens up about her fertility journey and how it impacted her mental health and identity. We talk honestly about the emotional toll of trying to conceive, the life-changing moment of becoming a mother, and the reality of returning to work after maternity leave — a transition that’s often unsupported and misunderstood.

Both Elizabeth and I faced challenges in the workplace as new mums. While I returned part-time to reclaim a sense of self, Elizabeth was made redundant with her second baby and discovered just how rare flexible roles were — even after nearly 20 years in recruitment. That experience led her to start Investing in Women, now a growing platform and community, and the foundation for her new book Flex.

We also explore how flexible jobs benefit not just individuals, but employers too — widening the talent pool and helping close the gender pay gap.

🎧 Listen now to hear how adversity became opportunity — and how building a career on your terms is not only possible, but powerful.
